Canucks Vs. Kings, Game 5: Vancouver Eliminated With 2-1 Loss

The Canucks did manage more than 40 shots in their Game 3 victory and Game 4 loss, but their performances at home were much more lackluster -- 26 shots in game one (while allowing 39 for Los Angeles), 30 in Game 2 with 44 for LA) and 27 in their Game 5 elimination (allowing 39 once again).

Perhaps a healthy lineup from the start of the series might have made a difference, but part of the coach’s responsibility is to account for such losses and to help his club keep focused on home ice.

No, this was N****s in Paris, by Jay-Z and Kanye West. The organist played the opening bars, leading into one of those familiar organ tunes to get the crowd psyched for the game, or just chanting something like Go Team Go. Either way, it was superb.

Whatever you do, Canucks organist, you ball so hard.

Now, both will be tested even more in what should be a frenetic extra period, as Vancouver attempts to force a Game 6 while LA looks to complete the stunning 1/8 upset.

So here’s what happened: During a break following the second period, the spot ran a whole lot of places. I saw it, in Washington, and others who work here saw it across the country. It would seem to have been a national ad.

And what is it? An ad for a dating website that services -- you guessed it -- farmers. It’s like any other singles site, except for people that bail hay and stuff.

And he can’t let those seats go to waste.

This is the young man at his tamest, relaxing and focusing on the game. But when the camera is on him, it’s showtime.
