NHL Playoffs 2012, Capitals Vs. Rangers: Washington Forces Game Seven With 2-1 Victory Over New York

There will be a seventh game.

The Washington Capitals, maybe the most resilient professional sports team in recent memory, became the first team in NHL history to win four straight playoff games following overtime losses by scoring a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Caps got goals from Alex Ovechkin, who rebounded after a zero-shot Game 5, and Jason Chimera.

Washington goaltender Braden Holtby, who was not tested too often tonight, faced a flurry of activity at the end of the third period, yielding only a freak goal in the game's 60th minute as Marian Gaborik's wrist shot from inside the blue line hit off the back of Capitals defenseman John Carlson and into the net.

Game 7 will take place Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. The top-seeded Rangers will look to avoid being upset, while the Capitals will look to down another Eastern Conference heavyweight.
