We’ll get a better view at just how large (or small) the Kings parade crowd is as the afternoon goes on -- and to be fair, there are thousands of fans at Staples Center and L.A. Live towards the end of the parade route. But in comparison to the Bruins’ parade in 2011, this route is about half the size (meaning the people should be packed in much tighter) and the images aren’t even comparable.
Kings Parade 2012 Live: Crowd Can’t Compare To Boston, Chicago Parades
Here’s Boston:

And here’s L.A. today:
It was a similarly short parade route for the Blackhawks in 2010 -- actually, both that route and this year’s route for the Kings parade measure about 0.9 miles -- but the photos from Chicago are much more impressive than this Los Angeles crowd.
To be fair, the Bruins’ parade was held on a Saturday morning. That can explain in part the massive crowds -- reportedly the largest in Boston sports history -- for that 2011 celebration. But the Blackhawks parade was on a Friday afternoon and that didn’t seem to hinder attendance at all.
We’re not holding this against Kings fans at all -- especially not the diehards who have waited 45 years or their entire lives for this -- but it’s worth noting.
