Ray Whitney has signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Dallas Stars according to a report from Defending Big D. The 40-year old scored 77 points with the Phoenix Coyotes last season, helping them reach the Western Conference Finals.

The contract is loaded with bonuses -- $4 million per season in salary and $500,000 in bonuses attached to each season. The cap hit on the deal is $4.5 million, the average annual value of the deal. According to TSN, Whitney has a no-movement clause in his deal and a modified no-trade clause in which he can supply a list of 10 teams to which he’d accept a trade.

It’s the third multi-year contract Whitney has signed since turning 35 years old. It’s also the most lucrative of the bunch. His deal signed with Phoenix in 2010 earned him $3 million per season.

Whitney scored 24 goals and 53 assists with Phoenix, and 20 of his points came on the power play. It’s expected he’ll see a lot of power play time in Dallas as well.
