The Anaheim Ducks have added former captain Scott Niedermayer to the team's coaching staff as an assistant coach, according to an announcement on the team's official website.

The Anaheim Ducks have added Scott Niedermayer to Bruce Boudreau’s coaching staff.

Niedermayer had been working for the club as a hockey operations consultant and had been acting in that role since retiring from the team in 2010. According to the release, Niedermayer will be joining head coach Bruce Boudreau’s staff immediately. He will be joining fellow assistants Bob Woods, Brad Lauer and video coordinator Joe Piscotty.
Niedermayer’s exact responsibilities were not mentioned in the release.
During his time in the league, Niedermayer registered 172 goals and 568 assists for a total of 740 points over the span of 1,263 games. Originally chosen with the No. 3 overall selection in the 1991 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Niedermayer spent 12 seasons with the team before signing as a free agent with Anaheim to play with his brother Rob.
After winning the Stanley Cup three times with New Jersey, Niedermayer led the Ducks to their first championship in 2007.
