The Los Angeles Kings are planning to announce long-term contract agreements with both general manager Dean Lombardi and head coach Daryl Sutter, according to a report by Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times on Monday.

The organization is hoping to have the deals completed prior to the team's home opener on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks, where they will be raising their Stanley Cup championship banner.

According to the report, Lombardi has already agreed to a four-year extension but has yet to formally sign any kind of documentation. The extension will carry through the 2016-17 season.

The Kings are planning to officially announce Lombardi and Sutter’s extensions at the same time.

Sutter became the team’s head coach in December of last season and guided the team to their first championship in franchise history.

Lombardi, who was originally hired in 2006, is excited to continue his working relationship with Sutter:

“I’m excited about the prospect of continuing my partnership with Darryl as we strive to keep the team among the elite in the NHL.”
