The Detroit Red Wings will look to register their first win of the season when they challenge the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night.
Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets preview: Detroit looks to bounce back in national broadcast
The Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets will meet in a nationally televised game on Monday night. Detroit is entering the contest off a 6-0 defeat, while Columbus managed a shootout victory.

Coming off a disappointing 6-0 loss at the hands of the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, Detroit will look to spoil Columbus' home-opener. Only managing to register 14 shots on goal against St. Louis, it would be hard to imagine that the Red Wings will not enter Monday night's contest with the hope of generating more chances on net.
Unfortunately, the Red Wings are already experiencing an early season injury sting, as several players are dealing with nagging ailments. Darren Helm (back) is currently on injured reserve, while Todd Bertuzzi is out indefinitely while dealing with an illness that is believed to be mono. Jakub Kindl (groin strain) and Jan Mursak (collarbone) are both questionable.
Also, goaltender Jonas Gustavsson has experienced a groin injury, which has forced the club to recall Tom McCollum from the Grand Rapids Griffins to back up new starter Jimmy Howard.
Columbus will be entering the game with a healthy roster.
Fresh off a 3-2 shootout victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night, the Blue Jackets will look to start the season with consecutive victories. With newcomers Nick Foligno and Artem Anisimov providing the offense during regulation, the team managed to earn goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky his first win in Columbus blue.
Bobrovsky is expected to get the nod against Detroit and head coach Todd Richards is not expected to change up the team’s line combinations.
Detroit is expected to make some changes due to injury.
Monday night’s game will begin at 7:30 p.m., ET and will be nationally broadcast on NBC Sports Network.
