NHL free agency: Scott Gomez continues to practice with Sharks
Scott Gomez continues to practice with the San Jose Sharks. The team has yet to determine whether they will extend him a contract offer.

Gomez began working out with the team this weekend and it is believed that they are interested in signing Gomez. However, Kurz reports that a decision is not expected to be made on Monday as the team is continuing to determine what course of action to take.
Gomez was extended an accelerated compliance buyout by the Montreal Canadiens last week. The Canadiens will pay the entirety of Gomez's contract for the remainder of the season and will still carry his salary cap-hit. Next season, the team will no longer be responsible for his cap-hit.
This allows Gomez to sign with any team he wants.
Despite early interest from several teams, it is believed that the Sharks are the only serious suitor remaining. Gomez has a previous relationship with assitant coach Larry Robinson, which dates back to their time together with the New Jersey Devils.
It is believed that if the Sharks extend an offer to Gomez it will be a one-year deal worth $700,000.
