The Detroit Red Wings have placed defenseman Jakub Kindl on injured reserve, according to Ansar Kahn of MLive.com on Monday afternoon.

Kindl has been dealing with a groin injury and was questionable for the team's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night. He had previously stated on Sunday that he felt good and could be available to play on Friday night against the Minnesota Wild.

Following this move, it becomes unclear whether that remains the case.

Kindl was originally selected with the No. 19 overall selection by the Red Wings in the 2005 NHL Draft. He has appeared in 106 career games and has registered three goals, 14 assists, 17 points and 61 penalty minutes.

With Kindl out, the Red Wings have decided to recall Brian Lashoff from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. The 22-year-old defenseman has yet to play a game in the NHL.
