The Ottawa Senators have reassigned goaltender Robin Lehner to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League, according to an announcement by the team on their website on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ottawa Senators have reassigned goaltender Robin Lehner to the Binghamton Senators.

It was anticipated that the Senators were going to need to make some kind of move with their goaltenders as they had carried three on the roster prior to the announcement.
With Craig Anderson already anointed as the No. 1 goaltender prior to the start of the season, the club also held onto Lehner and Ben Bishop. Both Lehner and Bishop had played well for Binghamton during the lockout, which led some to speculate that the club might be interested in moving Anderson later in the season.
However, Lehner could be placed in the minors without waivers. Considering he is 21 years old (and Bishop requires waivers to be reassigned), this is a fairly conservative decision, especially following two solid performances from Anderson this season (59 combined saves on 60 shots with one shutout).
