The San Jose Sharks have come to terms on an agreement with unrestricted free agent forward Scott Gomez, according to multiple reports.

The San Jose Sharks are expected to announce on Wednesday that they have signed forward Scott Gomez to a one-year contract.

While the deal has yet to be announced Gomez is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Sharks at a pro-rated salary of $700,000. This move has been anticipated since this weekend, as Gomez has been practicing and traveling with the team for the last few days.
Gomez, along with former teammate Wade Redden, was one of the first players to be presented a compliance buyout in the new collective bargaining agreement.
Redden came to terms on a one-year agreement with the St. Louis Blues last week.
Although Gomez was extended the compliance buyout by the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Rangers are the team that signed him to the seven-year, $51.5 million contract the Canadiens were eager to get off their books. Montreal acquired Gomez two years into his deal via trade. In exchange for Gomez, Tom Pyatt and Michael Busto, the Canadiens sent Chris Higgins, Doug Janik, Ryan McDonagh and Pavel Valentenko to New York.
Gomez struggled to produce during his time in Montreal, only registering 21 goals and 81 assists in 196 games.
As part of the compliance buyout, Gomez will be paid his full (pro-rated) salary for this season from the Canadiens, in addition to the salary the Sharks have agreed to pay him.
