The No. 1 Minnesota Golden Gophers suffered just their fourth loss of the season on Friday, but they will get a chance at revenge against Minnesota State on Saturday.
2012 NCAA Hockey schedule: No. 1 Minnesota will attempt to bounce back
After losing to Minnesota State on Friday, No. 1 Minnesota will attempt to salvage a weekend split on Saturday.


The Golden Gophers lost, 2-1, at home to Minnesota State Friday night and will now go on the road to face the Mavericks. The puck is scheduled to drop at 8:05 p.m. ET with Minnesota possibly needing a win in order to retain the No. 1 spot in the rankings.
No. 3 Boston College may have been in position to overtake Minnesota, but the Eagles also lost on Friday. Boston College lost, 4-1, at home to Maine on Friday night and now needs a win just to salvage the weekend. The Eagles held the No. 1 spot for the majority of the early season, but another loss on Saturday could send them tumbling. Saturday’s game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
Like two of the teams ahead of them, No. 4 New Hampshire will also attempt to come back from a Friday night loss. The Wildcats lost to Merrimack, 3-2, on Friday and will now host the Warriors at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday. Friday wasn’t any better for No. 5 North Dakota as it lost to No. 16 St. Cloud State, 3-1. The teams will play again on Saturday with the game scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET.
Other top 10 teams in action on Saturday include No. 6 Miami (OH) taking on Bowling Green at 7:05 p.m. ET, No. 7 Notre Dame hosting Ferris State at 7:05 p.m. ET, No. 8 Yale traveling to face Colgate at 7 p.m. ET and No. 9 Western Michigan hosting Michigan at 7:35 p.m. ET.
No. 2 Quinnipiac and No. 10 Denver will not be in action on Saturday.
