Gabriel Landeskog injury: Avalanche captain out after Brad Stuart hit
Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog will miss the team’s game against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night due to head and neck issues.

While the team did not specify, Landeskog's injuries are likely stemming from the hit he received from San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart on Saturday afternoon. Landeskog was carrying the puck through the neutral zone and dumped it into the San Jose defensive zone when Stuart administered a punishing blow, which forced Landeskog to leave the game.
Despite Landeskog leaving the ice after the hit, he did return to the game and finished the contest with 16:23 of ice-time.
The hit was somewhat controversial as it appears as though the principal point of impact was Landeskog’s head. However, both Landeskog and Stuart agreed in their postgame comments that the hit was clean.
Stuart did not receive a penalty on the play or any supplemental discipline from the NHL.
