New York Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic has declared that he is ready to return to game action and would like to play in Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Islanders vs. Penguins: Travis Hamonic returns; Jesse Joensuu out 5-7 weeks
Travis Hamonic is ready to make his return to the New York islanders lineup, while Jesse Joensuu will miss another 5-7 weeks.

Hamonic suffered an ankle injury during the team's game against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. On Tuesday, he admitted that he couldn't move after rolling over the area, but has since recovered and hopes to be permitted to play against Pittsburgh.
However, he is willing to do whatever head coach Jack Capuano thinks is best.
If Hamonic plays, he will likely be paired with Andrew MacDonald. If he is unable to play, Radek Martinek is expected to take his spot in the lineup. Martinek has yet to make an appearance this season.
In other news, the Islanders announced that forward Jesse Joensuu will miss five-to-seven weeks while recovering from surgery on a sports hernia. Joensuu suffered the injury while playing in Finland during the lockout and has been suspended by the team without pay.
The suspension is directly related to his sustaining the injury overseas.
