While NHL labor talks continue to move along, Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar suffered a knee injury playing overseas on Saturday, via Helene Elliott of The Los Angeles Times. Kopitar is playing for Mora IK of Sweden’s Allsvenskan hockey league.
Anze Kopitar injures knee in Europe
Playing in Europe during the NHL lockout, the Kings’ Anze Kopitar suffered a knee injury that could cause him to miss some time if the NHL regular season starts up soon.

Kopitar’s agent, Pat Brisson, called the injury minor, but would keep the Kings’ center out for anywhere from two to three weeks. If the NHL regular season starts up soon, he would certainly miss some of the games due to the knee injury.
Kopitar, drafted by the Kings with the No. 11 pick in the 2005 draft, scored 25 goals and had 51 assists for the Kings in 82 games last season. Once the playoffs came, however, Kopitar stepped it up even more, accumulating 20 points in 20 playoff games for the Kings.
Since Kopitar suffered the injury playing overseas and not for the Kings, he is financially responsible for insurance.
