Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas plans to stay true to his word to sit out the entirety of 2012-13 season, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN on Sunday afternoon.

Boston Bruins controversial goaltender Tim Thomas remains set on sitting out what’s left of the 2012-13 regular season.

With the 2012 part of the year already crossed off the calendar due to the 113 day lockout, Thomas will miss a condensed regular season schedule that will span either 50 or 48-games (dependent upon when the new collective bargaining agreement is ratified).
According to McKenzie, the 38-year-old goaltender is happy living with his family in Colorado and is not interested in playing with the Bruins or any other NHL franchise this season. Thomas has one-year remaining on a four-year contract, which carries a cap-hit of $5 million.
The controversial goaltender stated on June 3 via his facebook page that he planned to take off this season in order to spend time focusing on “friends, family and faith.”
Prior to the lockout, it was discussed that the Bruins might trade Thomas to a team looking to reach the salary cap floor. As of this time, it’s unclear whether that still remains an interest of the team/a possible course of action.
