Winnipeg Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian could miss the first month of the condensed NHL season while recovering from wrist surgery.

After tearing a ligament in his right wrist, Bogosian required surgery on Aug. 31 that projected to have him inactive for at least four months. Under the previous collective bargaining agreement, any player who sustained an injury prior to the expiration of the deal would still be paid and would have access to team facilities in the event of a lockout.
So, when the league officially closed its doors on Sept. 15, not much changed for Bogosian (with the exception, of course, of his surgically repaired wrist).
Now, with the league expected to resume operation over the coming days, Bogosian hopes to return to normal business as well.
Participating in his first skating session on Monday since the surgery, Bogosian is taking his first strides to making a return. However, a post from Ed Tait and Tim Campbell in the Winnipeg Free Press states that he could miss the first month of the year.
With that in mind, he is expected to be able to participate in practice with other players once the lockout is officially lifted after the ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement.
