Alexei Kovalev to tryout with Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers will be inviting 39-year-old forward Alexei Kovalev to training camp this season.

Kovalev was seen participating in an informal workout with other members of the team in preparation of training camp, which is expected to begin this weekend.
The 39-year-old Togliatti native spent last season in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League playing for the Moscow Oblast Atlant. In 22 games, he recorded one goal and five assists for a total of six points.
Kovalev last played in the NHL during the 2010-11 season when he split time with the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins. After registering 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points in 54 games with Ottawa, Kovalev waived his no-trade clause in order to join Pittsburgh. In 20 games with the Penguins, he scored two goals and tallied five assists.
Originally chosen with the No. 15 overall selection by the New York Rangers in the 1991 NHL Draft, Kovalev has played in over 1,300 career games in the NHL, registering 428 goals, 596 assists and 1,024 points over that span.
