With a condensed regular season schedule comes a shortened period for almost everything involving the NHL this season.
NHL adjusts rules for underage junior players
The NHL has adjusted the rules for underage junior players.

Organizations will now be permitted only five games to determine whether signed junior prospects will play the entirety of 2013 with the NHL club or be sent back to their junior teams, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN on Wednesday morning.
It will only be changed for this season.
In previous seasons, teams were allowed to invite junior prospects to training camp and then keep them on the NHL roster for a nine-game grace period without the player losing a year on his entry-level contract. Now, with the schedule cut almost in half, the league has decided to limit that period of time to five games.
This change is expected to be announced but has not yet become official.
As of Wednesday afternoon, it is expected that the following teams will be inviting junior prospects to training camp: Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets.
