The Minnesota Wild lost defenseman Jonas Brodin in the first period Tuesday's game against Nashville after an innocent looking dump-in by Gabriel Bourque hit him right in the face.

The injury occurred in the first period and Brodin did not return for the remainder of Minnesota’s 2-0 win.

Minnesota coach Mike Yeo said after the game that Brodin was taken to the hospital for X-rays on his face and that there is currently no update.
Brodin, 20, has quickly become one of Minnesota's best players on the blue line and is coming off a stellar rookie season that saw him spend most of his time playing next to Ryan Suter.
He is off to a tremendous start in 2013-14 and entered Tuesday’s game with three goals and three assists in his first nine games.
