Tim Thomas leaves with another injury

Florida Panthers goalie Tim Thomas had to leave Tuesday’s game with another injury.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Tim Thomas' return to the NHL has had its share of ups and downs.

He’s had moments where he looked the goalie that was the best in the NHL before he took a year off from the league. He’s had some moments where he has looked every bit the late-30s goalie that he is. And he has also had some injuries.

That's what happened on Tuesday night when he had to exit Florida's game against the Chicago Blackhawks late in the third period.

It's the second time this season Thomas has been lifted due to an injury, also leaving a game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a groin injury.

He was replaced on Tuesday by Jacob Markstrom with less than two minutes to play in regulation on Tuesday.

Thomas had stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced against the Blackhawks. He entered the game with a .901 save percentage in his first five appearances
