Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Ray Shero said on Tuesday evening that reports that forward James Neal injured his shoulder while playing wiffle ball are "100 percent not true," via Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

Earlier on Tuesday a report surfaced from David Todd of 970 ESPN that Neal was injured during a wiffle ball game the Penguins were playing on ice before the start of the season.
The Penguins announced last Friday that Neal was out indefinitely due to an undisclosed upper-body injury, which would be evaluated on a week-to-week basis. Todd tweeted that the injury is similar to a strained oblique and was sustained while the team was playing wiffle ball on ice last week.
In addition to Todd, Sean Gentille of The Sporting News has also been told that Neal sustained the injury while playing wiffle ball.
Neal was able to play in the Penguins’ home opener last Thursday, but left the game in the first period because of the issue.
There is no timetable for a return as of last Friday afternoon.
