Brad Stuart suspension: D gets 3 games for hit on Rick Nash

San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart has been suspended three games for his hit on Rick Nash on Tuesday night.

The NHL has suspended San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart three games for his hit to the head of New York Rangers forward Rick Nash on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred early in the first period and resulted in Nash eventually leaving the game after playing just a little more than five minutes. He did not return. Here is the video of the hit, as well as Brendan Shanahan’s explanation for the suspension.

Stuart will be eligible to return on Oct. 17 when the Sharks visit the Dallas Stars and he will lose $55,384.62 in salary as a result of the suspension.

San Jose ended up winning Tuesday's game 9-2 thanks in large part to a four-goal effort from rookie Tomas Hertl.
