Martin Erat with a great individual effort, pass to set up John Carlson

Martin Erat isn’t scoring goals, but he did make a fantastic play to give John Carlson an easy goal on Tuesday.

Martin Erat is still looking for his first goal of the season for the Washington Capitals, but he at least found a way to contribute to the cause on Tuesday night with this tremendous effort and pass to set up John Carlson for a tap-in against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

It was Erat’s sixth assist of the season, with four of them coming in games against Columbus (he had a three assist game against the Blue Jackets earlier this season).

After spending the early part of the season relegated to fourth-line duty, Erat has seen his role increase over the past month and perhaps that’s the type of shift and play that can get things going in the right direction for him.

The Capitals acquired Erat from the Nashville Predators at the trade deadline in exchange for former first-round pick Filip Forsberg.
