Matt Duchene fighting is a bad idea

This is not what the Colorado Avalanche want to see. It can’t be.

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

No, Matt Duchene. Do not do this. This is bad. This is a bad, terrible, awful idea.

With the Colorado Avalanche in the middle of their worst loss of the season, Duchene decided it would be a good time to get into his second career fight by dropping the gloves with St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Sobotka.

Nothing good was going to come out of this, and the Avalanche couldn’t have been happy watching their best player this season and an emerging superstar taking punches to the face and falling to the ice without a helmet on. The risk outweighs whatever reward there might be here (which is none).

There also seems to be some sort of history here between these two. Duchene’s only other NHL fight was also against Sobotka.

After serving his fighting major Duchene went on to score his 12th goal of the season.
