Olympic hockey odds: Canada, Russia favored, Team USA 4th

The oddsmakers at Bovada have given Canada and Russia equal betting lines to win gold at Sochi.

Canada has favorable odds to repeat as Olympic champions, as the oddsmakers at Bovada have given the Canadians an 11/5 margin to win the men’s gold medal at the 2014 Sochi games.

Russia, the host nation, is tied with Canada with an 11/5 margin to win gold, while Sweden is third with 9/2 odds to win it all. The United States is ranked fourth with a margin of 6/1 and the Czech Republic comes in fifth at 9/1. Here’s the full list:

Canada (1/7), Russia (1/2) and Sweden (1/2) are all given the most favorable odds to win their groups.

Canada is also favored to win the women’s ice hockey gold medal, given a margin of 4/5 to win it all. The American contingent is second at 1/1 odds, followed by Finland at 16/1. The USA and Canada have faced off for the gold medal in women’s hockey in every Olympic games except in 2006.
