Winnipeg having a ‘Helmet Pardy’ on Thursday against Chicago

Winnipeg Jets fans are going to celebrate Adam Pardy getting his helmet ripped off with a “helmet Pardy,” even if the team doesn’t want them to.

When we last saw the Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg Jets facing off on the ice, this was happening in the stands.

That's Jets defenseman Adam Pardy getting checked through the glass and having his helmet ripped off by a fan (while another fan poured a beer on him). The helmet snatcher then decided to wear it in all of his sauced up glory.

Good news everybody! The Blackhawks are traveling to Winnipeg on Thursday night and Jets fans are being encouraged to wear their own helmets to the game in what is being dubbed on Twitter, a “helmet Pardy.”

The team has distanced themselves from the idea, releasing a statement from co-owner Mark Chipman Wednesday afternoon that discouraged fans from taking part in the “media-promoted stunt.”

Earlier this week, we learned of a media-promoted stunt to have Winnipeg Jets fans wear helmets to the game on Thursday, November 21st versus the Chicago Blackhawks.

I would like to let our fans know we in no way endorse this idea and in fact and wish to personally advise that we will not permit fans to wear such headgear at tomorrow’s game.

The idea originally came from Winnipeg DJ Dave Wheeler back on Nov. 14.

We’ll see how many fans wind up taking part now that the Jets have tried to shut it down.
