The Carolina Hurricanes will be getting one of their best players back, but losing another one. The team announced on Thursday that forward Jeff Skinner has been activated from injured reserve after missing the past 11 games with an upper body injury that he suffered back on Oct. 24.

Jeff Skinner is returning to the Hurricanes’ lineup, but Alexander Semin is going to miss some time with a concussion.

Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, the move was accompanied by the team placing Alexander Semin on injured reserve due to a concussion he suffered last week against the St. Louis Blues. Before his injury, Skinner had scored three goals to go with six assists in 10 games.
Semin has been off to a slow start when it comes to point production, but it might simply be due to some poor shooting luck. He’s been Carolina’s best possession player, and the team gets significantly more shots and chances when he’s on the ice, as opposed to when he’s not. Even though the puck isn’t going in the net for him, he’s still playing strong hockey, and the team will definitely miss him as long as he’s out of the lineup.
The Hurricanes managed just one goal and 24 shots on Monday with both Skinner and Semin out of the lineup.
