Ilya Bryzgalov made his Edmonton Oilers debut on Monday night, taking over for Devan Dubnyk against the Chicago Blackhawks.

With the team laying an egg in front of Devan Dubnyk through the first period and a half on Monday, the Oilers decided that rather than leave him in there to get fed to the wolves, they would give Bryzgalov his first opportunity to play in an Edmonton uniform.
The Oilers signed Bryzgalov as a free agent earlier this month.
He spent the past two seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers before being bought out after the 2012-13 season. Following that buyout, he remained unsigned throughout the offseason and eventually ended up signing a tryout contract in the ECHL, an experiment that lasted about two weeks.
Before joining the Oilers, he made two starts with their AHL team in Oklahoma City, posting an .880 save percentage.
