It’s been quite a week for gamesmanship in sports. First there was Jason Kidd and the Brooklyn Nets getting a free timeout after spilling a drink. Then there was Mike Tomlin on Thursday night casually getting in the way to prevent a touchdown.

And then on Friday night there was Ryan Smyth of the Edmonton Oilers.
Sure, maybe it was an accident (or maybe it wasn’t). But this sure was a great time for the net to get knocked off its moorings, just as Columbus was about to score what would have been its second goal of the game.
