Jesse Winchester suspension: 3 games for elbowing Chris Kelly

Florida Panthers forward Jesse Winchester will miss the next three games for elbowing Boston Bruins forward Chris Kelly on Thursday night.

Florida Panthers forward Jesse Winchester has been suspended three games elbowing Boston Bruins forward Chris Kelly in the head on Thursday night.

The incident occurred early in the first period of Florida’s 4-1 loss. Winchester was not penalized for the hit and Kelly was able to return to the game.

As a result of the suspension he will lose $9,230.76 in salary.

In 16 games this season Winchester has scored four goals -- including Florida’s only goal on Thursday -- and recorded three assists in 16 games.

He will be eligible return to the lineup on Nov. 15 against the Minnesota Wild.
