Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin was ejected for elbowing Steve Downie on Thursday night.
Emelin received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for this.
Downie was slow to get up after the hit and had to be helped off the ice by the team trainer. He did not take a shift for the remainder of the period.
He did eventually return to the game for the start of the third period.
Downie has already missed time this season for a concussion that he suffered in a fight in the Flyers' 7-0 loss to the Washington Capitals back in November.
