In his effort to hit Alex Ovechkin in the first period on Monday night, Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil ended up injuring himself, leaving the game with what the team was calling a lower body injury following an awkward collision with the Capitals' superstar forward.

Alex Ovechkin felt the officials -- all of them -- missed a hit to the head from Chris Neil.

Neil left the game and did not return.
Ovechkin did stay in the game, and following the Capitals’ 3-1 loss he sounded off on what he thought was a missed call by the officials.
