After appearing in just four games in his return to the NHL, goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has been placed on injured reserve by the Edmonton Oilers.

Ilya Bryzgalov’s return to the NHL has been put on hold as the Oilers placed him on injured reserve on Thursday.

Bryzgalov was injured on Sunday against the Dallas Stars when he was involved in a collision with forward Ryan Garbutt in the Oilers' 3-2 win. He had to leave the game mid-way through the second period and according to coach Dallas Eakins was suffering from concussion or whiplash symptoms.

Bryzgalov had stopped 28 of 29 shots during the game before leaving. He has a .939 save percentage on the season.
The Oilers signed Bryzgalov as a free agent last month after he spent some time on a tryout contract in the ECHL after he was bought out of the remainder of his contract by the Philadelphia Flyers over the summer.
In his absence the Oilers will go back to the Devan Dubnyk-Jason Labarbera tandem that they started the season with in net.
