The Montreal Canadiens have acquired goaltender Dustin Tokarski via trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning for goaltender Cédrick Desjardins, according to an announcement on the Canadiens' website by general manager Marc Bergevin on Thursday morning.

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired goaltender Dustin Tokarski in exchange for goaltender Cédrick Desjardins.

Tokarski is a 23-year-old native of Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Originally selected with the No. 122 pick in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Lightning, Tokarski has spent the 2013 season with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. In 33 games played this season, Tokarski has compiled a 18-8-4 record with a .900 save percentage and 2.46 goals against average.
In seven career appearances in NHL games (all with Tampa Bay) Tokarski has a 1-3-0 record with an .871 save percentage and 3.54 goals against average.
Desjardins has spent the majority of his career in the AHL.
Beginning his career in 2006 as an undrafted free agent, Desjardins has made only two appearances in NHL games, which came during the 2010-11 season with the Lightning. He has spent the 2012-2013 season with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL and has compiled a 7-13-2 record with a .905 save percentage and 2.94 goals against average.
