The Canucks broadcasters thought it was "too much," but you can't argue with the results.
Blues vs. Canucks: Jake Allen watches shootout video on the bench
Nerd alert! Blues goaltender Jake Allen scouts the opposing shooters just before pulling off a perfect shootout.
Blues goaltender Jake Allen was presented with shootout video of several different Canucks players immediately prior to last night's shootout. Allen then proceeded to stop both shooters he faced, and the Blues won the game.
As the video shows, Allen didn’t seem to be paying a great deal of attention to the scouting clips being displayed on the tablet computer on the St. Louis bench. Maybe he didn’t need any additional help - after all, he had been strong for the Blues all night, including making several key saves in overtime to send the game to the shootout.
With Jaroslav Halak just returning from injury and Brian Elliott just awful, it has to be exciting for the Blues to get such a strong game out of Allen.
And it was probably also exciting for the “tech wizard” with the iPad to finally have an excuse to use that, too.
