Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Tuesday evening, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN.

The hearing is directly related to an incident that occurred during the team's Sunday night game against the Dallas Stars when Giordano slew-footed Antoine Roussel at the 11:53 mark of the second period. Girodano was assessed a two-minute minor for tripping.
It seems unlikely that the league would suspend Giordano for such an offense. In reality, the decision to request a hearing is more likely to allow the league to administer a heavy fine against Giordano.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the league is required to call a hearing with the Department of Player Safety in order to levy a fine in excess of $5,000.
In addition to Giordano's hearing, the league also requested a hearing with Minnesota Wild forward Devin Setoguchi for a hit he administered on Sunday night. According to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Setoguchi will not be suspended for the play.
Three players have been suspended this season, which includes Philadelphia’s Brayden Schenn (one game), New York’s Colin McDonald (two games) and Washington’s John Erskine (three games).
