Minnesota Wild forward Devin Setoguchi has been fined by the NHL for his hit on Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey on Sunday night, according to an announcement by the NHL on Tuesday morning.

The NHL has fined Minnesota Wild forward Devin Setoguchi for high-sticking Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey on Sunday night.

The league’s Department of Player Safety determined that Setoguchi would be fined a total of $8,108.11 for the incident, which is the maximum allotment the NHL is allowed to levy under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
He will not be suspended any games for the offense.
The fine is determined based upon Setoguchi being a first-time offender. The terms of the collective bargaining agreement allowed the NHL to levy a maximum fine that was the lesser of either $10,000 or one-half of his daily salary.
The money will be allocated to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred when Setoguchi attempted a hit and his stick hit Quincey in the mouth, which resulted in a double-minor for high-sticking at the 15:19 mark of the second period.
Quincey had to receive medical attention after the play, as he required 20 stitches to close the cut on his chin. He was able to return to the game in the third period.
