The Anaheim Ducks have extended the contract of goaltender Viktor Fasth through the 2014-15 season, according to an announcement by general manager Bob Murray on the Ducks' official website on Wednesday afternoon.

The Anaheim Ducks have extended the contract of Viktor Fasth after making only nine appearances in the NHL.

While the club did not release the financial terms of the agreement, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register is reporting that the deal will pay Fasth a total of $5.8 million. Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Fasth will be paid $2.4 million in the first year of the extension and $3.4 million in the second year.
The deal will carry an annual average value of $2.9 million against the salary cap.
Fasth was set to become a free agent after the conclusion of the 2013 season, as he was previously playing under a one-year contract that paid him a pro-rated salary of $1 million.
The 30-year-old goaltender has made nine appearances with the Ducks and has compiled an impressive 8-0-0 record with a .933 save percentage and 1.78 goals against average.
