The San Jose Sharks, already drowning in a forgettable February, may be without one of their veterans for awhile. Forward Ryane Clowe will face league discipline for an incident late in Friday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Ryane Clowe faces 10-game suspension for leaving bench to fight Andrew Shaw
The forward’s punishment will be handed down on Monday.

Clowe left the bench in the dying minutes of the game to go after Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw, who had just laid a hit on Joe Pavelski right in front of the San Jose bench. According to the Mercury News, the punishment could be heavy for Clowe:
Clowe apparently took exception to Shaw’s decision to drive Joe Pavelski into the boards in the game’s final seconds. Officials appeared to quickly intervene, then handed out a boarding penalty to Shaw as well as a minor for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct to Clowe.
If the league finds Clowe improperly left the bench to go after Shaw, it could mean a 10-game suspension. There could also be supplementary discipline if the league determines it was part of a line change.

Clowe will be held out of tonight's game against the Dallas Stars, and awaits a hearing with the league on Monday. The forward hasn't scored a goal yet this season.
