The Phoenix Coyotes have signed defenseman David Schlemko to a two-year extension, according to an announcement by general manager Don Maloney on the team's official website on Monday afternoon.

While the terms of the agreement were not readily released, it is being reported by multiple outlets that the deal will carry an annual average value of $1.19 million. Schlemko had been playing in the final year of a three-year, $1.65 million deal, which carried an AAV of $550,000.
At the conclusion of the season, Schlemko would have been a restricted-free agent. The extension will be in effect until the conclusion of the 2014-15 NHL season.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2007, the 25-year-old Edmonton-native has played in 118 career NHL regular season games. Over that span, he has compiled a total of six goals, 27 assists, 33 points and 44 penalty minutes.
In nine games played this season, Schlemko has recorded two assists and is second on the team in blocked shots with 26.
