For any team interested in trading for Flyers forward Danny Briere, the conversation could likely be a very short one.
NHL trade rumors: Danny Briere doesn’t want to leave Flyers
Trade rumors have popped up about the Flyers possibly looking to move veteran Danny Briere, who says he’s not planning on going anywhere.

Rumors have swirled the past few weeks that the Flyers could be entertaining a trade of the veteran center/winger, with the St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins being the teams mentioned the most. Blues general manager Doug Armstrong has shown a close interest in the Flyers during that time, and the Blues could certainly use a player with Briere's track record as a veteran leader in the postseason.
According to Frank Seravalli of the Daily News, Briere isn't exactly open to a move.
“I don’t want to comment on anything at this point,” Briere told the Daily News. “Trades are not my department. I’ve been a Flyer for a long time. My heart belongs in Philadelphia with the Flyers. I can’t see myself playing anywhere else.”
The trick here is that Briere has a full no-movement clause and has not indicated he's going to be willing to waive said clause, making any serious discussions about a possible move moot. The Flyers, at 9-11-1 on the season, traded for Simon Gagne as a bit of a stop-gap measure to attempt to fill some holes in the lineup -- it's not clear how moving Briere would actually solve those problems.
Briere has two years remaining on his eight-year, $52 million contract he signed with the Flyers in 2007, with a cap hit at $6.5 million per season. The veteran, who had 95 points in his final year in Buffalo, has proven to be a postseason monster in his career with 109 points in 108 playoff games.
