Ryan Kesler injury: Canucks forward broke foot, says agent

Ryan Kesler’s agent has confirmed that he broke his right foot while blocking a shot against the Dallas Stars on Feb. 21.

Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler has broken a bone in his foot, his agent told Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Providence.

Kuzma reports that Kesler sustained the injury while blocking a shot against the Dallas Stars on Feb. 21. The Canucks have played three games since and Kesler has been in the lineup for each contest. Against the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday night, he played 19 minutes and recorded an assist.

Kuzma reported earlier on Wednesday that Kesler was seen wearing an air cast on his right foot and did not participate in practice.

The Canucks have yet to address the situation. There is no indication of whether Kesler will be forced to miss time or to the extent of how severe the injury is. Kesler was forced to miss the first 12 games of the 2013 season while recovering from offseason surgery on his shoulder and wrist.
