Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green has aggravated a groin injury and will not be traveling with the team to Winnipeg, according to head coach Adam Oates on Friday morning.

Capitals defenseman Mike Green is still dealing with a groin injury and will not be available to play on Saturday.

Green had previously injured his groin and was forced to miss three games while recovering. On Tuesday, he returned to play against the Carolina Hurricanes and was available the next night against the Philadelphia Flyers. He logged around 22 minutes of ice time in both games.
However, Green was unable to practice on Friday morning and seemingly aggravated the injury sometime during the back-to-back. Oates indicated that the 27-year-old defenseman wasn’t feeling normal yet and that everyone involved wanted to err on the side of caution in order for Green to return to full health.
The head coach expressed some concern given Green’s history. Last season, he missed half the year with a groin injury and required sports hernia surgery.
As of Friday morning, there is no timetable for his return.
The Capitals will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they challenge the Winnipeg Jets.
