The Minnesota Wild have assigned rookie forward Mikael Granlund to the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros, according to an announcement by the team on Tuesday morning.

Mikael Granlund has been assigned the AHL’s Houston Aeros by the Minnesota Wild.

Granlund had compiled a goal and five assists for six points in 19 games with the Wild this season.
Before the start of the NHL season on Jan. 19, Granlund had played in 21 games with the Aeros. Over that span, the 21-year-old forward accumulated eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points. In addition, he was named the AHL Rookie of the Month for October after scoring 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in seven games.
However, the rookie was unable to translate that same success to the NHL level and struggled to find a permanent role in the Wild’s lineup. Bouncing between the second, third and fourth line, Granlund also found himself sitting out games as a healthy scratch.
Over the course of the team’s last eight games, Granlund had been scratched four times.
