John Tortorella rant: ‘We sucked at a time you can’t suck’

John Tortorella added another chapter to his impressive history of press conference rants.

New York Rangers head coach John Tortorella does not mince words. His press conferences have become legendary for their brash abrasiveness and often become bigger stories than the games they're talking about.

Following Tuesday night's 3-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, Tortorella added another chapter to Best Of: Press Conferences collection.

He began his media availability by stating that he did not agree that the Sabres were a hungrier team and didn’t want to give the team any credit because he believed the Rangers stunk.

Citing disappointment with his top players and the team’s handling of the contest, Tortorella quickly transitioned from his disappointment about the game to questioning why he needed to answer questions. From there he began asking the media questions about what his players had said.

Upon saying he didn’t want to pick apart the contest, Tortorella summed up his opinion rather poetically.

“We sucked and we sucked at a time that you can’t suck.”
