The Pittsburgh Penguins won their ninth game in a row Sunday, a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins that pushed the Penguins into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference, breaking a tie with the idle Montreal Canadiens.

After a fun first quarter and a quiet second and third, Pittsburgh held on to win.
Crosby scored his 13th goal of the season about eight minutes in, fading left to right off a backhand pass from Chris Kunitz. The Bruins tied the game about four minutes later on Tyler Seguin's 10th of the season, and the scoring flurry continued through the end of the first quarter when Pittsburgh's Joe Vitale scored his first of the season with 32 seconds until the first intermission.
That would complete the scoring for the rest of the game.
The Bruins came into Sunday's game 10-1-2 this season when tied or trailing after the second period, and they were down 2-1 at the second intermission. With a win, Boston could've overtaken Montreal and Pittsburgh to take a lead in the Eastern Conference standings. Instead, the Bruins stayed at 41 points to Pittsburgh's 44 and Montreal's 42. The Canadiens play the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
