Ottawa Senators defenseman Marc Methot suffered a lower-body injury in their game against the New York Islanders, and the team announced after the second period that he would not return. The injury occurred during a collision and Methot's knee appeared to be the victim, as the defenseman needed to be helped off the ice.

Methot has become an important part of a Senators roster that has been severely depleted by injury this season. He has been one of the team’s leaders in ice time in recent weeks, usually playing in excess of twenty minutes.
