Vancouver Canucks forward David Booth is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season after undergoing surgery, according to general manager Mike Gillis in an interview with Team Radio 1040 on Friday afternoon.

David Booth’s 2013 regular season will end just as it began -- with him sidelined due to injury.

Gillis stated that he is hopeful that Booth could potentially return in time for the playoffs.
Booth sustained a lower-body injury in the team's game against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. The incident occurred in the final minute of the first period when Booth was attempting to beat out an icing call. After retrieving the puck, he was checked into the boards and ultimately ended up at the bottom of a pile of players.
After skating back to the bench without the ability to put any weight on his left leg, Booth was helped to the dressing room by the training staff at intermission. He was unable to return to the contest.
Booth’s 2013 season has been marred by injury, as he started the year on injured reserve after sustaining a groin injury in training camp. In 12 games this season, he has recorded a goal and two assists for three points.

According to Gillis, the Canucks will not look to bring in a winger at the trade deadline.
