Bruins vs. Canadiens: Brendan Gallagher scores with 8.2 seconds left

Gallagher’s goal sent a wild hockey game into overtime.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

Congratulations, NBC Sports Network. Rivalry Wednesday has certainly lived up to the hype this week.

Fans (and NBC execs) expected a typically physical, back-and-forth affair between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins, and they got exactly that. Montreal mounted a fierce comeback in the third to tied it up at 4-4 before Tyler Seguin gave the Bruins the lead again just a minute later.

And then things got crazy. Aaron Johnson was called for a delay of game penalty with less than two minutes left in the third, giving the Canadiens a last-ditch power play. Andrei Markov made up for his otherwise awful game by assisting on Brenden Gallagher's tip-in goal with 8.2 seconds left to send the game to OT.
